Some History.......
Begun as a simple basement operation by husband and wife team, Barbara and Peter Wisber, Ladie and Friends has grown to be one of the country's leading producers and sellers of dolls. In 1984 Peter and Barbara decided to create a product together combining both of their skills. On a whim Barbara hand painted "two dots for eyes" on a wooden ball and Peter fastened a simple wooden body to the ball and the first Lizzie High doll was born. The dolls names were drawn from a journal listing the births and deaths of family members discovered in a 19th Century heirloom Family Bible belonging to Peter's great great grandmother, Lizzie High, born in 1849. Each doll features the registered trademark "two dots for eyes" face design along with unique costuming to reflect their personality. The Wisber's developed a little "tale" to accompany each doll. These tales draw people into the world of Lizzie High...a simple place where time stands still and where "life's little pleasures are seen through the eyes of a child".
